Event Description:
Did you know...Workplace musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are one of the most significant occupational safety and health problems in the United States, according to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Direct costs of MSDs are $20 billion a year. Total costs are estimated to be between $45-54 billion. Indirect costs (lost productivity, product defects, etc.) of an MSD case can be up to five times the direct costs. MSD cases require 38% more lost time days than the average injury/illness. Ergonomics is “The science of fitting workplace conditions and job demands to the capabilities of the working population.” Using information for the latest evidence-based medical research from the Mayo Clinic and Cornell University Human Performance Laboratory, David will cover some of the most recent recommendations on Office Ergonomics. His presentation will cover the cumulative effects of poor office ergonomics and will offer several alternatives to reduce those risks. Bring your questions!
